What is GHS?
GHS, or the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals, is an international system for classifying chemical hazards. It provides standardized guidelines for chemical hazard identification, safe handling and storage instructions, and includes color-coded pictograms to help prevent injuries and illnesses associated with exposure to hazardous chemicals.
What is BS 5609?
BS5609 refers to the “Marine Immersion Label Testing” standard, which defines the durability requirements for pressure-sensitive labels used to identify hazardous chemicals transported by sea. The BS5609 certification is a two-part process: both the label material and the printed information must pass separate tests to ensure they meet the durability and performance standards. Only labels that successfully meet both criteria can achieve BS5609 certification.
Our drum labels and materials undergo rigorous testing to ensure they are both GHS-compliant and BS5609 certified. These labels are designed to remain fully attached and legible under all conditions, including immersion in seawater, extreme heat and cold, rain, and snow.
